Spider Veins
Sclerotherpy is a procedure used to treat varicose and spider veins. As the standard of care when partnered with Asclera®, it is considered one of the most effective forms of treatments for removing unwanted leg veins. When the valves of your veins aren’t working properly, you may notice them spread out in clusters under the surface of your skin. Though not a sign of danger, these veins are unpleasant to deal with and may make you feel uncomfortable in your own skin. These superficial red or blue lines form when too much pressure is put on certain parts of our bodies. When pressure builds up, these veins become prominent and visible. If you are dealing with the appearance of these veins, our team at Allergy & Skin Spa can help.
Why Do Spider Veins Occur?
Spider veins are noticeable veins in your legs that appear blue, red, or purple. These veins sit just beneath your skin’s surface and occur when the valves of the vein are damaged or not working properly. Ordinarily, healthy veins carry blood from your legs back to your heart. The valves inside the vein keep blood flowing in one direction. When not functioning correctly, damaged valves allow blood to leak backwards and pool in the vein. Spider veins develop when too much pressure is put on certain parts of your body. These twisted veins seem to invade our skin, appearing unpleasant and sometimes quite painful as well.
What Are the Signs?
Spider veins can develop anywhere on your body but are most common in the legs. This is because your blood must fight against gravity in that area to make it back to the heart. Spider veins are readily recognized by their characteristic visual appearance. These veins may crop up on your leg and face, forming “spiderweb” patterns that are easy to identify. The veins may sometimes bulge out and feature discoloration, appearing more blue or red than usual. In some cases, people have reported feeling pain, itching, and irritation due to these veins. If you experience these issues, we’re happy to provide you with the relief you’re looking for.
Asclera® Treatment for Leg Veins
Asclera® is a sclerosing agent that can offer relief from unsightly veins in as little as 1-3 simple injections. This treatment works by damaging the endothelium, or inside lining of blood vessels. This process causes blood platelets and cellular debris to attach to the lining of the vessels. Over the course of 1-2 weeks, the cellular debris and platelets attached to the vessel cause it to clot. This ultimately leads to new tissue growth in place of the vessel.
