Chemical Peels

While we are all on our own personal search for the fountain of youth, we have come across a plethora of products and solutions that can sometimes leave our skin damaged from our lack of knowledge and understanding. Chemical peels (facial resurfacing treatments) remove the top layer of your skin to reveal brighter and revitalized skin. Chemical peels are one of the most versatile treatments we offer because we can tailor the strength of each peel to match your areas of concern and your expectation of results. When it comes to peels of any kind, it is important to be aware of all of the outcomes that come with the procedure and techniques. At Allergy & Skin Spa, Dr. Kia will take a look at your skin and determine the best course of action and treatment that will work to give you the results you desire. What Do Chemical Peels Address?

Chemical peels address the following issues:

Collagen is the building block of our skin. When we’re young, our skin is filled with this amazing protein. As we get older, our production declines and our skin begins to weaken causing fine lines and wrinkles. Our skin dispatches collagen to rebuild injured skin. With chemical peels, the body builds stronger layers of skin from the inside out. When collagen builds up, wrinkles and lines fill in, and their appearance softens. When we apply the mild chemical peel to your face, it goes to work gently removing skin cells. Your top layer of skin has a barrier of dead and dull skin cells that can dull your overall complexion. The peel dissolves that layer of dead skin. Afterward, you may see a light peeling of the dead skin cells, revealing brighter and healthier-looking skin beneath. The medium peel does the same thing on a deeper level. Dr. Kia will determine whether or not you will need a mild or medium treatment based on the integrity of your skin.

What Can I Expect and How Long Do Chemical Peels Last?

There are no guarantees on how our skin will react to treatments. When it comes to Cosmelan peels your results typically depend on the amount of skin pigment you have. Most patients who have peels done experience peelings between 3-5 days that may last up to a full week. During your consultation you will discuss all your options and identify your personal needs. Your next thought may be, “how often can I get a chemical peel?” Depending on your skin, you may only need one peel to see optimal results. For others, it may take 2-3 more peels for the results desired. We recommend that you receive chemical peels about three months apart. The Cosmelan peel can be repeated on a yearly basis to help you maintain the smooth and supple skin you desire. After our peels, clients can expect to see:

What Is A Cosmelan Peel?

Chemical peels have been all over the aesthetic world with people revealing that with just one peel you can enhance your skin by removing an old  layer to find their youth. While there are many peels, a Cosmelan peel may be the best one. The Cosmelan peel treats hyperpigmentation and skin discoloration issues such as irregular skin tone, sun spots, acne scars, and melasma. This is a two-step treatment that will be applied to your skin by Dr. Kia. Once it is applied during your appointment, you will then wash this off the mask at home once it has been worn for several hours. As soon as the mask is removed, a secondary cream will be applied to protect the new layer of skin growth. During your consultation, you will discuss with Dr. Kia the areas of concern to make sure that you are ultimately satisfied with your treatment.
